Dear Attorney General Harris:

I respectfully request that the California Attorney General’s office begin an independent investigation into the case of Mitrice Richardson.

Ms. Richardson was a 24-year-old African American college graduate who was taken into custody by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies for possession of  small amount of marijuana and failing to pay a restaurant bill in Malibu in September 2009. After her release from a remote LASD substation (Malibu/Lost Hills), Richardson went missing for 11 months — until her naked, semi-decomposed remains were found in a rugged canyon just eight miles from the station and, according to the coroner’s office, moved in breach of protocol. The coroner never saw the remains as they were found. Because the scene was compromised and no evidence was collected even by LASD, Richardson’s cause of death is undetermined. The body was recently exhumed for reexamination, but the results have not been shared with the decedent’s family or the public.

A recent article in the September issue of Los Angeles magazine (“What Happened to Mitrice Richardson?”), chronicles the LASD missteps that led to Richardson’s demise, and the department’s many discrepancies—and in some cases, outright lies—in explaining those events.

The article, which has garnered a great deal of media attention, also points out the how the department’s watchdog agency, the Office of Independent Review, failed to adequately investigate LASD’s handling of the Richardson case.

L.A. County’s Board of Supervisors has agreed to pay Richardson’s parents $900,000 for a wrongful death suit filed against them. But several questions remain unanswered. For example:

• Why did the sheriff’s station free Richardson despite several accounts of the young woman displaying the sort of odd behavior that would normally warrant psychological evaluation?

• Why did the station—the same one that gave Mel Gibson a ride to his car after he was freed on drunk driving charges—turn Richardson loose even though her car had been impounded and she had no money or means of transportation?

• Why did the station captain keep the jail-cell video of Richardson in his desk drawer for nearly four months while denying its existence?

• Did the deputy seen leaving the station behind Mitrice (captured on video) see or speak to Richardson?

• Why were Richardson’s remains both nude and partially mummified?

• How did Richardson, a young woman from the city, end up in an exceedingly rugged canyon with no roads or trails nearby?

• Why did sheriff’s personnel remove her remains from the scene rather than follow protocol and wait for the coroner’s office to investigate?

• Why has some potential evidence still not been collected from the canyon where Richardson’s remains were found?

• Why hasn’t the case been deemed a homicide?

• Why, in an October 2010 meeting, did Lt. Michael Rosson and Captain David Smith tell Sheriff Baca that Richardson’s remains were moved because they were completely intact, when in fact one leg was several feet from the body, the head and body were not connected?

•Why hasn’t LASD posted a reward on LACountymurders.com for information in the case, as Sheriff Lee Baca promised to do on December 29, 2010?

In summary, I believe that the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and its watchdog, the Office of Independent Review, have failed to properly investigate and monitor the Mitrice Richardson case, and, given their mistakes and discrepancies, can no longer be trusted to do so.

I respectfully ask that the California Attorney General’s office take over this case so that questions can be answered and justice can be served.

Sincerely,

Your Name and Hometown here

City of Inglewood Elected Officials

My incident occurred in the City of Inglewood on Century Bl. & Yukon Ave on April 6, 2007. It involved 2 Inglewood Police Officers: Officer Alvaro Ruiz #884 (Who I caught following me in November 2010 & I took the picture of) & Officer Jose Estrada #883 (The officer who choked me that night of my arrest).  Estrada has since been terminated as a police officer as of 2009 but I have been unable to find out the reason for his termination. (I have been told that he was one of the cops who shot an unarmed man but haven’t had that confirmed.)

It should be noted that these 2 officers never wrote a police report in regards to them putting their hands on me that night.  When it came time for them to give a statement to my employer, LAPD, 3 months after the incident occurred they were able to give detailed information about my ‘irate & violent’ behavior in great detail but had no report to reflect on…just their memory.

In January 2010, for my 2nd trial, my attorney had Officer Ruiz subpoenaed to come to court  to testify but when he arrived he informed her he did not recall what happened approx. 3 yrs prior so she let him go. Fast forward to September 2010 for my LAPD Administrative Appeal Hearing, Ruiz was called by LAPD Internal Affairs to testify & he showed up testifying in great detail about how I acted 3+ years ago without any report to reflect on…He even described me worse than he did in 2007 which was odd b/c he supposedly didn’t remember my case 8 months earlier but seemed to have gained all his memory back to make sure I didn’t get my job back with LAPD.

These are the major players who I’d think would need to be contacted within the City of Inglewood to inform them of what happened in their city as well as educate them on the officers actions involved.

65 court appearances over misdemeanors: The unrelenting prosecution of Cherise Rogers

Cherise Rogers (Dan Bluemel / LA Activist)

April 6, 2007 is a day Cherise Rogers will never forget.

It was the beginning of an average Friday, or so she thought. Twenty-five-years-old and not long out of college, she was working as a clerk typist for the Los Angeles Police Department. She just finished her shift, which ended at one in the morning.

Driving to her grandparents home along Century Boulevard in Inglewood, she noticed a police
car behind her with its lights flashing. Rogers pulled over.

Soon she will be tackled by five officers, handcuffed, pepper-sprayed and sitting in the back of a patrol car. The next four years will be consumed by 65 court appearances, trying to clear her name and regain a once bright future.

Goodbye 2010……2011 Here I Come!!!!

2011 - I will be coming to a Community near you!

2010 has been a very interesting & stressful year, the most stressful out of the 3 1/2 years I’ve been fighting this Misdemeanor case.

  • They finally got 2 convictions out of me after having been maliciously prosecuted over & over & over (3 Trials).  They got just what they wanted on April 14, 2010 when I was found Guilty of 2 counts of Resisting Arrest (They added this 2nd Resisting Arrest charge on me the first day of my second trial, January 15, 2010, to hedge up their chances at a conviction).
  • Oh and the 2 Battery on Officer charges they originally had against me were dropped due to a hung jury.
  • I also got put on 3 years summary probation plus ordered to pay fines & do some community service.

Aside from that, last month I finally had my appeal against the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) for them Wrongfully Terminating  me as a Clerk Typist on January 15, 2008 behind this case full of LIES & False Allegations.  As of today, I await the results & should receive them in January sometime.

NOTE: At my LAPD appeal I had 5 officers testify against me: 3 Los Angeles Sheriff Deputies, One Inglewood Police Officer & the Los Angeles Police Department Captain who fired me.

So it is quite interesting how my life quickly changed all because of POLICE LIES.  Being I was new to the whole (in)justice system process, I was unaware of all the INJUSTICES that were currently going on around us everyday and it’s quite an epidemic.  I have become so intrigued with the topic of justice & demanding that everyone deserves it, that I have found myself engaging in more & more community events & activities revolving around police brutality, police misconduct, & police murders.  It’s time for people to stand up against the way law enforcement has been able to ruin so many INNOCENT peoples lives while they continue to move on with their lives with no discipline involved.  At the rate it’s going any & everyone is susceptible to police violence!

It’s a tragic shame that the people who are supposed to Protect & Serve the community have found a way to become the enemy by means of terrorizing people by force & intimidation, falsifying reports to cover up their wrongdoings, planting evidence, unjustified homicides, illegal search & seizures, & much, much more etc.  How are people supposed to have faith & trust in the Law when they clearly break it themselves?  Can you answer that???

Steve Cooley Lost the Election for State Attorney General!

Well, I got 2 of my wishes granted in this past November election, with the most important wish being that Los Angeles County District Attorney STEVE COOLEY (Republican) lose the race for State Attorney General & he did!!! He actually conceded the day before Thanksgiving, so I can say I am truly Thankful for that! 🙂

San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris (Democrat) took home the VICTORY!

It took a full 3 weeks to get the final results & boy oh boy was I relieved, excited,  ecstatic & full of laughter all in one!  I think I did a flip when I learned this Great news.

What makes this such a funny story to me, is the fact Mr. Cooley, the egotistical & arrogant man that he is, declared Victory on election night.  Giving us an early victory speech only for him to wake up the next morning & see he was no longer in the lead.

That was so HILARIOUS & a one of a kind move only a man like Cooley could make!!! I’ve never heard anyone give an early acceptance speech only to find out in the end they lost! That must make him feel pretty low as a human being if I must say so myself.  And I’d guess he does feel pretty low & that’s why he did not attempt to show his face upon his loss.

A man who is quick to jump the gun when he ‘thinks’ he is a winner but hides behind his campaign team when he ‘knows’ he lost tells you the type of man he is! That move alone tells alot about this man named Cooley. He’s just not as COOL as he thought.

In his written concession speech he stated,

“I take great pride in the fact that I received the endorsement of every law enforcement organization in this race as well as that of every major daily newspaper in California but one.”

I bet you do take pride in that Steve.  That’s because you help cover-up the wrongdoings of all these rogue cops out here who are running a muck.  They all know they can count on you to make sure they never get found at fault for all these unjustified homicides, excessive force cases, acts of misconduct etc.  And being you are a crook yourself, who is out here trying to line your pockets at the public’s expense (Double Dipping), you were the man they saw fit for the job…. but THANK GOD you were not selected!!!  🙂 California has spoken!

You are now officially a LOSER, Steve!  How does it feel to know you couldn’t pull this win even though you were very confident you could?? I’m curious.

Now us Angelenos have to deal with Cooley in the District Attorney’s Office until 2012 & that is when we can officially say,

‘GOOD RIDDANCE COOLEY, YOU ARE NO LONGER WANTED HERE! SAYONARA!!’
